On Friday night YYL Exco (with guests) took on the might of the HKFC social teams, The Dynamics, who fielded such league stalwarts as Anto Grabo, Bobby Lawson, tony Bratsanos, and Tom Henderson. After going a goal down, exco equalised through a rare Phil Dowding header, Dynamics then took the lead again before a beautiful Jon McKinley half-volley brought parity. Despite many chances, Dynamics could not score again, thanks mainly to a man of the match performance from Exco ‘keeper Danny Mead, and a great individual goal from Simon Galvin and a tap in from Joe Chung Hui Ho after good work again from Galvin sealed a 4-2 victory for the Exco side.
In the first division, thing have really hotted up with only three points separating the top six places – at this stage of the season, this is surely a first in the thirty year history of the YYL. USRC moved into top spot after beating Albion 3-0 and lead on goal difference from 816 who went down 3-1 to a resurgent Squadron, Wanderers leapfrogged KCC to move into third place after defeating them 7-4 in the days goal fest - goals for Wanderers were a hattrick from Galvin and a goal apiece for Hulbert, Page, Donnelly and Crane, French Kiss keep in touch despite drawing 1-1 with the Dragons, in the other games Colts drew 1-1 with Antonhill and Spartans beat White Youth 1-0 a result which means they have changed places at the bottom. In the second division things remain tight with GAS continuing their fine run, this time overcoming Oxford 3-1 who moved down to third place, second placed Swiss continue to bang in the goals this time putting seven past Azzurri who remain at the bottom of the table, ANP stayed in contention after winning by the odd goal in five against Hoo Cheung in the early game at KGV, Boca slipped further down the table after drawing 2-2 with University, WYFC84 beat Yan Po 5-1 and CSOB put six points between Hearts and safety after beating them 2-0. Mobsters remain the only unbeaten team in the league after overcoming WYFC06 at Happy Valley, Lester Rosario scoring the only goal of the game, NASA and CAPS remain in second and third places with 2-1 wins over Grasshoppers and Hung Art respectively, HKSS underlined their promotion credentials after hammering Darts in the early game at Community Sports 7-1 and in the remaining games there were 1-1 draws for Amphibians against Standard Chartered and OBA versus Scorpions. Shock of the day was in the fourth division where high flying new boys Crusaders were held to a 1-1 draw by Youth Coaches but remain top on goal difference from GGFC who overcame Dynamo 2-1 with help from a Rob Kelly pile driver and an assured performance at the back from Andy Brown, Colloids stay in third after a convincing 4-1 win over HOB and in the remaining games Bapcoll beat Corinthians 2-1 and HKU70s beat Green Tree 5-2.
